Dr Nic Jones

Consultant Clinical Psychologist


Nic is a highly experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a passion for and expertise in the field of attachment and developmental trauma. She left the NHS in 2019 to further her independent practice.  Nic works in a relationship focused way to help improve understanding and  deepen connection between family members or within the system where people are living or receiving support. 


She has a depth of experience around supporting people with a broad range of neurodiverse or complex presentations: Nic is a qualified Practitioner and Consultant in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). She is unusually qualified to work with both children and their families/carers and also adults with an Intellectual Disability (Learning Disability). She has completed Level 3 EMDR training, Foundational Level Theraplay, BUSS Level 1, Sensory Attachment Intervention. 


Nic is championing the development of trauma informed care for adults with highly complex needs such as an Intellectual Disability. She currently facilitates the specialist interest group for professionals working with people with an Intellectual Disability who are interested in a DDP framework. 

 

Governance

Nic is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and maintains professional liability insurance. She holds chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
